Athens Community Theatre and Athens Area Council for the Arts (AACA) announce that two of this weekend’s four performances of “Now We Juke-ing! A Juke Joint Story” are postponed due to severe weather forecast.
Our top priority is the safety and security of our audiences, performing artists, crew, and staff; as such, we are postponing the Saturday 1/24 and Sunday 1/25 performances.
Thursday January 22 – As scheduled, no availability
Friday January 23 – As Scheduled with catering by The Island Vibes, no availability
Saturday January 24 – Postponed to January 31, 7:30 PM performance, Neutral Grounds (Kenyatta Ashford) Gumbo served at 6:30pm
Sunday January 25 – Postponed to February 1, 2:00 PM performance
Tickets for Saturday and Sunday performances are in high demand; please read on to learn your options if you currently have tickets or if you are hoping to purchase tickets.
If you planned to see the Saturday or Sunday shows, please read this guidance and take appropriate action out of respect for fellow arts patrons and performing artists.
CURRENT TICKET HOLDERS
Your ticket(s) will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled date on the corresponding weeknight. (Saturday 1/24 moves to Saturday 1/31 and Sunday 1/25 moves to Sunday 2/1). Because these shows have limited availability and different price points resulting from catering, we are unable to switch dates.
If you CAN attend the show on your rescheduled date, you do not need to take any action. The rescheduled Saturday performance will still be catered.
If you CANNOT attend the show on your rescheduled date, please do one of the following:
Release your ticket(s) by Tuesday January 27 so waiting patrons may attend a performance. You can release the ticket by contacting The Arts Center box office at 423-745-8781 (office hours are M, T, Th, F from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM) or emailing Tyler at operations@athensartscouncil.org. When you release a ticket, you can either:
Donate the ticket price to AACA. AACA is a registered 501c3 and Athens Community Theatre is a primary source of revenue for our community arts education programs. You may wish to treat your ticket purchase as a charitable donation in support of AACA’s mission. OR
Request a refund. We are grateful for the financial support of our patrons in many ways and understand a refund may be preferable. We will gladly issue refunds to the original payment method, only upon request, and only until 5:00 PM on Tuesday January 27.
Consider gifting your ticket. You may share your ticket(s) with a friend who can attend the rescheduled performance; the recipient of your ticket(s) can simply give the name of the original ticket holder for admission to the performance, or you may contact the box office to update the name on the ticket(s).
NOT TICKETHOLDER, BUT PLANNED TO SEE “NOW WE JUKE-ING!”
If you have NOT PURCHASED tickets but would like to see Now We Juke-ing, you can purchase a ticket to a performance on January 31 or February 1, subject to availability.
Current availability is extremely limited; however, existing ticket holders have the option to release their tickets until Tuesday January 27, so ticket availability may increase in the coming days.
We will sell tickets as they are available and keep a wait list on a first-come, first-served basis for any tickets that are released. To maintain the integrity of the wait list, tickets will only be available through the box office. Online sales for tickets to Now We Juke-ing are closed. Please call or email the box office to purchase tickets or be placed on the wait list. Claiming a spot on the wait list is a commitment to purchase tickets should they become available. To claim a spot on the wait list you will need to provide your name, the number of tickets you are committing to purchase, which performance(s) you can attend, and the best return number.
Athens Community Theatre volunteer performers and leaders commit hours and dedicate talent, passion, and heart to produce these productions.
Rescheduling performances is a challenge to everyone; we appreciate your understanding, compassion, and flexibility.
