ABOUT THE PLAY

Real-life stories of how growing up in North Mississippi juke joints shaped the cultural perspective of a young Black girl.

ABOUT TICKET PRICING

For this production, the opening night performance on Thursday January 22 will double as a “Pay What You Can” performance. Patrons may pay the regular ticket price ($20 for adults and $15 for students) or select a free ticket and make a donation of any amount.

*Friday January 23 and Saturday January 24 are catered shows, meaning there is one flat ticket price for each show.

Friday January 23 is catered by The Island Vibe whose Maxene Thomas, also known as Chef Fullflava, will serve his  award-winning gumbo along with pineapple cupcakes.

Neutral Ground will cater the Saturday January 24 performance with Chef Kenyaetta Ashford serving seafood gumbo and a dessert. (There will be a gumbo without shellfish as well.)

The $25 ticket for each of these dates includes the meal, the show, and access to a cash bar.

Tickets for the Sunday January 25 matinee are standard pricing.

Athens Area Council for the Arts is committed to helping eliminate barriers to arts experiences. While Athens Community Theatre is an important source of revenue for AACA programs, the organization understands ticket prices can be prohibitive and offers a “Pay What You Can” option for most theatrical productions. This Pay What You Can option is generally during a rehearsal and is publicized by word of mouth.
