Instructing at The Arts Center gives you the flexibility to build your own class which includes the preferred days of the week, length of the class/workshop, required age level and times of day for class duration.

Our base pay starts at $20 per contact hour. Instructors work closely with our Program Director on class availability, material needs and class descriptions/expectations.

Specifications

The Arts Center is looking for instructors in all mediums willing to teach any age/experience level but stronger consideration will be given to applicants willing to teach children (ages 6+). Stronger consideration will also be given to instructors in printmaking (block printing, screen printing, or lithography), calligraphy, and pastel painting. The Arts Center also welcomes theatre, dance and music instructors to apply.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in art instruction and a commitment to community engagement

  • The ability to work cooperatively with staff, clients, management and community partners

  • Ability to adapt lessons to different skill levels and abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse populations

  • Manage setup and cleanup of materials before and after each session.

  • Must be able to provide three available references to contact

  • Able to follow The Athens Area Arts Council Youth protection Guidelines.

  • Able to provide a digital or hardcopy portfolio that showcases your work and/or demonstrates teaching ability.
