About The Studio

Join an art club that meets once a month for tweens and teens. The goal of the club is to bring together the artistic youth of our community and create an enriching space for sharing, learning, and creating art! The Studio is a non-judgmental and anti-anxiety environment aimed at nurturing the younger generation into confident artists. Meetings will include a variety of opportunities for participants including painting, drawing, sculpture and many other forms of art. The Studio is free to join but don’t worry if you can’t make every Studio event, come when you can! Please register your attendance for each session.

Nancy Kyzer studied drawing and painting at the University of Georgia before teaching high school art in Atlanta. Nancy is a well-rounded artist with an impressive resume, including set painting for an elite Atlanta impressario, running a very successful Atlanta business doing portrait and sculpted cakes, working as the caricature artist on the Cunard cruise line, and was the national gingerbread champion and later finalist on a Food Network competition. You may remember her from her miniature Waffle House entered in AACA's Open Exhibit in 2019, which later became the centerpiece at Waffle House corporate headquarters in Atlanta for two years. In addition to all of this, Nancy has been teaching classes at The Arts Center for several years in mixed media, color theory, drawing, painting, and textile work. Nancy Kyzer graduated from the University of Georgia majoring in drawing and painting. She taught high school art in several Atlanta private schools. She is a cake decorator, sculptor, and was also featured as the caricature artist on the Cunard Line’s Sagafiord Caribbean Cruise. Nancy has won two national competitions for gingerbread sculptures (Good Housekeeping and the National Gingerbread Competition at the Grove Park Inn) and also competed on the Food Network’s Gingerbread Challenge. Most recently, Nancy was awarded first prize at this year’s AACA Open Exhibit Competition with a miniature Waffle House diorama. The diorama goes next to be exhibited in the Waffle House corporate office in Atlanta. Nancy is accomplished in a variety of art forms including drawing and painting, clay sculpture, interior designs in miniatures, sugar panoramic Easter eggs, personalized folding paper albums, and tailoring.
