The purpose of the Athens Area Children’s Choir is to teach and encourage children in grades 4 – 9 to achieve high artistic standards through choral singing and performance. Life skills such as discipline, responsibility, and teamwork are of equal importance. High expectations will be placed on this select group. Members will attend regular rehearsals Monday 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm August through May at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 123 North Jackson Street, Athens, TN 37303.
There is a $50 registration fee to audition and invited singers pay tuition each semester. Choir membership is on a semester basis, singers must commit to participate for an entire school year and make tuition payments each semester. Payment plans may be approved on a case-by-case basis. Financial assistance is available from the Marian Biddle Trew Scholarship Fund.
Athens Area Children’s Choir is directed by AACA Executive Director Emeritus and local musician Ellen Kimball and accompanied by Tristen Rowland, TWU student and church organist. The choir is under the umbrella of the Athens Area Council for the Arts and will be supported by a steering committee. Parents are invited to serve on this committee.
The ensemble debuted Thursday September 8 2016 when Athens Area Children’s Choir was the featured performer with PBS Sensation Annie Moses Band, which opened AACA’s 2016-2017 Big Time/Small Town Performance Season.

Biltmore Estate’s 2017 Candlelight Christmas Celebration (Asheville, NC): Sunday November 26
Opening Act for Christmas and All of that Jazz (The Arts Center): Sunday December 10
Fall Auditions for Athens Area Children’s Choir (AACC) are Sunday August 13 at 2 pm and Monday August 14 at 5:30 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Additional auditions may be held on an individual basis. Parents should call The Arts Center to schedule. AACC auditions singers in grades 4-9 to fill available spots in the ensemble.
Those auditioning should come prepared to sing a song (please bring sheet music, an accompaniment CD or iPod, or be ready to sing a cappella).
