Visual Arts
THE ART MARKET – We offer the only local gallery space dedicated to the display and sale of work by local and regional artists and craftspeople. The display changes frequently and showcases a potpourri of items suitable for gifts for others and yourself. You may find pottery, jewelry, metal sculpture, glass, handspun yarns, hand painted scarves, woven table runners, knitted shawls, felted wine cozies, woodworking, scented candles and soaps, letterpress note cards, wrought iron, original paintings and photographs, along with reproductions of local artists work. We also offer a selection of fun children’s art activity sets and games for all ages. All local artists from the surrounding area are welcome to apply for acceptance into the Art Market. The public is invited to view and purchase these fine works.
THE EXHIBITION GALLERIES – Two galleries are available for rotating art exhibits. Check our calendar for current and upcoming exhibits. You may see everything from local student art to well-known regional artists to traveling exhibitions curated by professionals in their field.
We also organize an annual juried art competition, usually on exhibit in November and December. Open to residents of the area, we include separate divisions for high school, college, and adults, each with cash prizes.
CLASSES – We offer art, music, and theater classes to the public. Offerings are geared for pre-schoolers to the young-at-art, and everybody in between. We normally offer six-week fall, winter, and spring sessions. Occasionally we offer special workshops or other opportunities. Check the schedule for upcoming classes. If you are an artist, musician, or into theater and would like to teach, please contact us.
HOLIDAY TRUNK SHOW – Our annual indoor fine art and craft show and sale is held the weekend before Thanksgiving each year. The show begins with a ticketed Preview Party the evening before the show opens to the public. Guests may enjoy live music, refreshments, and door prizes while browsing the show. While the emphasis is on holiday gift buying, a nice variety of art and craft is always for sale during this show with items geared to all budgets.
ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES – We offer a wide variety of ways artists, craftspeople, musicians, actors, and other theater types can get involved at The Arts Center.
