The 28th annual Arts Gala sponsored by the Athens Area Council for the Arts Auxiliary is scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2012 at The Arts Center in downtown Athens. The fundraiser is a celebration of the arts in the area, and everyone is invited to attend. The hours for the event are 7:00 PM until midnight and dressy attire is suggested. Tickets are $80 per person.
The Arts Gala 2012 Committee will transform the Sue E. Trotter Theater at The Arts Center into The Black Box Club, continuing a theme introduced by the community theater’s production of GUYS & DOLLS. Cast members will be present in costume to perform two of the songs from the show. The Arts Gala features a large silent and oral auction of artists’ work and other contributions by businesses and individuals. Auction items include a wide variety of offerings from art work to trips to jewelry and much more. There will be a cocktail buffet and music by the McMinn County High School Jazz Band, followed by the dance band, THE BEATERS.
Proceeds from The Arts Gala are earmarked to support school and community education in the arts.
